Concentration is the ability to focus your attention on a task, while blocking out other distractions, including sounds and even wandering thoughts.
Concentration is a very important skill for all ages to master. It’s not just necessary for martial arts training, but for school, work, and life. When you can concentrate or focus on what you are doing, you will find your work is easier, you’re better able to remember, and you make fewer mistakes.
Some ways to practice concentrating are to turn off the radio or television while you’re studying. Set a reasonable time limit to complete tasks. Get plenty of sleep. Exercise every day. Focus on what you are doing. Look at people when they are talking to you and don’t let your mind wander. Concentration takes practice, just like your martial arts, but soon you’ll be a master!
